Arrive in Denver
After collecting your car, make your way to your hotel, which is at the heart of the city. Spend the rest of your day exploring the walkable downtown area. After a restful night, head to the 16th Street Mall, a mile-long pedestrian promenade with a free Mall Ride to help visitors get around as quickly as possible. At the south end of the mall, you can visit Denver Pavilions - a shopping and dining complex. At the north end of the mall, 16th Street continues as a pedestrian path over three bridges connecting downtown to Commons and LoHi - a hip neighbourhood filled with restaurants and brewpubs.

Denver to Estes Park, 65 miles
Take the Peak to Peak Scenic Highway, which was designated as Colorado’s first Scenic Byway in 1918, and enjoy travelling through Clear Creek Canyon, Black Hawk, Nederland and Allenspark. Visit the historic Stanley Hotel in Estes Park, which was the inspiration for the Overlook Hotel in Stephen King’s 1977 bestselling novel The Shining.

Estes Park to Custer State Park, 347 miles
Enjoy the southern Black Hills with Mount Rushmore and Rushmore Cave. Head out on a Buffalo Safari Jeep Tour in Custer State Park or visit the new Native American History Museum “The Journey” in Rapid City. A visit to the Crazy Horse Memorial would round off your spectacular stay in South Dakota.

Custer State Park to Sheridan, 312 miles
Today’s scenic drive is highly recommended despite adding 90 miles to the “as the crow flies” straight drive. Head north into the historic gambling community of Deadwood before moving on and driving through Spearfish Canyon to see Bridal Veil Falls. Head next to Devils Tower National Monument and to your overnight stop en route to Yellowstone - Sheridan.

Sheridan to Yellowstone National Park, 248 miles
A scenic drive over the Big Horn Mountains awaits on your journey to Yellowstone National Park. A stop in Cody to see Buffalo Bill Historic Centre is highly recommended. Continue your journey via the east entrance to Yellowstone where you will get your first glimpse of the first national park in the USA. The road around the park is a loop and makes it easy to see all the sights. Visit Mammoth Hot Springs, Old Faithful and the upper and lower falls of the Yellowstone River.

Yellowstone to Jackson via Grand Teton National Park, 80 miles
After spending the morning sightseeing in Yellowstone, your drive south takes you through the spectacular Grand Teton National Park. You will pass by Jackson Lake, where you can stop at one of many viewpoints to take in the majestic scenery. Other viewpoints not to miss are Teton Point and Glacier View. After a glorious drive, you will arrive at your home for the next 2 nights, Jackson. Breakfast at the Virginian Restaurant is highly recommended.

Jackson to Vernal, 287 miles
Your journey south takes you through the town of Rock Springs and through Flaming Gorge, before taking you into Vernal for your visit to the Dinosaur National Monument.

Vernal to Moab, 218 miles
Enjoy the mountain and desert scenery as you drive to Moab, where you can experience Arches and Canyonlands National Parks with their dramatic landscapes, monoliths and striking red rocks. The adventurous can try a half-day rafting experience on the Mighty Colorado River.

Moab to Mesa Verde National Park, 140 miles
Today you venture back to Colorado and Mesa Verde National Park, known for its well-preserved Ancestral Puebloan cliff dwellings, the huge Cliff Palace being the largest dwelling. The Chapin Mesa Archaeological Museum exhibits its ancient Native American culture. Mesa Top Loop Road winds past archaeological sites and viewpoints, including Sun Point Overlook with panoramic canyon views.

Mesa Verde to Colorado Springs, 370 miles
Today you start your journey back to Denver with a drive through the cowboy town of Durango, where the railroad still runs down the main street before climbing into the Rocky Mountains and travelling along Wolf Creek Pass at over 10,000ft in elevation. Continue to Pueblo, where you pick up the freeway to Colorado Springs before driving through the beautiful Garden of the Gods City Park. Located at the base of Pikes Peak, this natural landmark features stunning geological formations, rock climbing, nature trails and the Garden of the Gods Visitor & Nature Centre. Any sightseeing you do not get to do today, you will be able to pick up tomorrow morning prior to heading off to Denver.

Homeward Bound
After leaving Colorado Springs in the morning, begin your final drive to Denver to return your car and check-in for your homebound flight.
