Arrive in Atlanta
Arrive in the ‘Peach State’ of Georgia and its cosmopolitan capital city, Atlanta for a two-night stay. There is so much to see in the city including many pretty parks and gardens, trendy and distinctive neighbourhoods, and world-class attractions. Visit the well-known World of Coca Cola and learn about this iconic drink brand and even get to drink some in the ‘tasting room’. The Georgia Aquarium houses over 70 amazing habitats where you can see penguins, sealions, dolphins and sharks. Another must visit is to the boyhood home of Martin Luther King and to the moving National Centre for Civil and Human Rights.

Atlanta to Savannah, 249 miles
Pick up your car and leave the metropolis of Atlanta behind and drive southeast via Macon to romantic Savannah, founded in 1733 as England’s last colony. Explore its restored waterfront area, and its authentic warehouses and enjoy tasty seafood. Stroll around the city’s charming squares which ooze charm, beautiful antebellum mansions, and interesting history. Or take the 30-minute drive to Tybee Island to enjoy its wide sandy beaches and go in search of dolphins on a cruise.

Savannah to Charleston, 136 miles
Today drive north towards romantic Charleston, if time permits visit the exclusive island of Hilton Head, bordered by one of the few unspoiled marine estuaries, it also boasts world class golf courses, hundreds of restaurants, and sandy beaches. Stop in Beaufort to explore its National Historic Landmark District before arriving in Charleston. Charleston is one of the south’s most preserved towns which brims with history and wonderful charm. Spend your time walking around the city on foot or explore on a horse and carriage ride. Visit the beautiful antebellum houses, shop in the local markets, or take a cruise over to Fort Sumter, where the Civil War began. You cannot help but fall in love with Charleston.

Charleston to Asheville, 275 miles
Drive inland today to Asheville, located in the heart of the Great Smoky Mountains, which are home to some of the highest mountains in the eastern US. Asheville boasts a thriving arts and music scene as well as the famous Biltmore Estate, the largest home in the USA. Spend a day touring George Vanderbilt’s wonderful home, a true wonder of architecture. See the home’s beautiful antiques and art, the glorious gardens and taste some of the estate’s wine which it produces. Spend a full day exploring the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, soaking up all the wonderful overlooks. Worthwhile stops include Grandfather Mountain, Mile High Swinging Bridge and Hot Springs.

Asheville to Nashville, 296 miles
Travel to Nashville via Pigeon Forge, home to famous ‘Dollywood’ with thrilling roller coaster rides and music, and the small town of Knoxville, once famous for its numerous textile mills. Music can be heard all around Nashville, whether that is on ‘Broadway’ the lively entertainment area filled with honky tonk bars or at the famous Grand Ole Opry at a music concert. If you like Johnny Cash, visit the museum that celebrates his life and successful music career or the Country Music Hall of Fame, an expansive museum showcasing legendary to current country music artists, and their stories and how they impacted the music industry. A must visit whilst in the city is RCA Studio B, where Elvis Presley and Dolly Parton amongst others recorded their hits which put Nashville in the centre of the world music stage.

Nashville to Memphis, 212 miles
Experience more music as we head to Memphis today, home to the ‘blues’, soul, and rock ‘n’ roll. Like Nashville, music is at the heart of Memphis with so many musical highlights to choose from. The Stax Museum of American Soul Music tells the story of soul music as well as gospel and R&B. Hit the interactive dance floor and see fascinating exhibits from soul legends including Otis Redding and Al Green. Visit world famous Graceland, the second most visited home in the USA and Sun Studios where legends including Elvis Presley and Johnny Cash recorded hits.

Memphis to Natchez, 312 miles
Learn more about Elvis’s life today as we travel to Tupelo, Mississippi where he was born and spent his early life. Then follow the path of the scenic Natchez Trace Parkway through lush forests passing significant sights that look back at Mississippi’s history from the prehistoric American Indians to the 19th century. Make a stop in Cleveland to visit the interesting Grammy Museum and Indianola at the B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Centre, before continuing to Natchez, the oldest permanent settlement on the Mississippi River. Experience true southern charm by visiting one of the antebellum homes or stroll around the pretty downtown area or spend an evening in one of the juke joints.

Natchez to New Orleans, 171 miles
Today head south to New Orleans, where jazz music can always be heard. A melting pot of French, African, Caribbean, and Spanish cultures, which helped to create the delicious Creole cuisine. Stroll around the different historic districts, have a drink at the famous Carousel Bar at the Hotel Monteleone, head to lively Jackson Square and Bourbon Steet or join a lunch or dinner cruise on an authentic paddle wheeler along the mighty Mississippi River.

New Orleans to Montgomery, 319 miles
Head to ‘Sweet Home Alabama’ and to the states capital city Montgomery which is regarded as the birthplace of the Civil Rights Movement where world-changing events took place including the Bus Boycott. Visit the interesting Rosa Parks Library and Museum to learn about her story and the positive changes that happened and the church where Martin Luther King was a pastor. For a drink and a delicious dinner head to the lively Alley Entertainment District.
